VILLA

A villa is a type of house that was originally an ancient Roman upper class country house. In modern parlance, "villa" can refer to various types and sizes of residences, ranging from the suburban semi-detached double villa to, in some countries, especially around the Mediterranean, residences of above average size in the countryside.

It is a detached dwelling that may or may not have a surrounding boundary wall, depending on whether it is situated within a walled compound. In cases where the villa is located within an enclosed compound, it is possible that the villa itself may not have a surrounding wall.

MAJLIS

The significance of the majlis in Qatari culture cannot be overstated. It tends to be a male only space, with women congregating inside the home. Positioned near the entrance, the majlis is a separate room which allows visitors to circumvent the more private spaces in the house. Guests in the majlis are offered dates and served Arabic coffee in a characteristically shaped pot (called dallah) in tiny cups with no handles.

The most decorated space in the house, the majlis was traditionally the only room with windows opening onto the street. Less ornate houses utilized simpler decoration with recessed niches (roshaneh), while wealthier residences filled the windows of the majlis with coloured glass, with some incorporating window screens or carved gypsum panels with symmetrical geometric designs.

RESIDENTIAL APARTMENTS

Residential apartment means an apartment intended for residential use. It usually refers to a room or group of rooms used only for living purposes by one family group and which contains the usual or customary kitchen facilities, generally on a single story.

COMMERCIAL SPACE

A commercial building definition is one in which its floor space is used for commercial activities, such as retail, the providing of services, or food service (restaurants and the like). Additionally, a commercial building (or, land) may also be defined as a space that has the potential for being one that brings in income.

MINOR STRUCTURES

Minor structures are a subset of various structures, such as decks, porches, platforms, ramps, sun shelters, and gazebos, which are not intended for habitation. Additionally, minor structures can refer to ornamental constructions, such as earth retaining walls, sand fences, privacy fences, and decorative walls.
